I often hear people speak in awe and wonder about how someone they know has made change in their lives or they go the other way and get jealous and defensive when its spoken about or a mix of the two. When you see someone who has succeeded in an area of life that you would like to try out what do you think?
“Ahh man, his parents are rich he had it sorted out from the beginning”
“I could never compete with him, he’s just a physically bigger person than me naturally”
What is the true difference between you two? Well to start, here are some similarities.
- We all descend from a common ancestor and are inherently related (Devout Christians can click away from the article at this point).
- We have all experienced doubt even the enlightened amongst us.
- We are born a blank slate and everything from that baby onwards is a learning period.
- We get socially conditioned heavily until our teenage years when we realise the conditioning and its major role in our lives.
- We struggle against the world and many of us carry out the same patterns from childhood
- We each have over 206 bones in our body, a mind to plan ahead and reminisce, a connection to Source that never leaves us and intuition to guide us.
- Life is a learning school for us all.
Are these all right for you?
Differences
It’s hard for me to enter into the delusion of duality. But a dualistic person may say.
- I just don’t have the personality for it, its just not “me”. *CRINGE*
- I’m a woman and there’s no way a woman can succeed in that career but a man could
- I don’t have the time to do this whilst they do
- I don’t have the resources of X person
All of these can be worked on. You can improve your personality which develops throughout your life.
Your mind will always give you a million questions because this is its job. Its your association with it which is the problem. Realise that your mind will tell you things against your will and take action anyways. Just start doing what you want to do and the resources will find you, you will suddenly assume the personality and you will make time if you are passionate enough about it.
My point is this. What is the real difference between those you look up to and yourself? If you go off the basis that you are all born equally and mental or physical ability only accounts for a small advantage, then, what can’t you do? Are you really that disadvantaged and different from those you see as successful? … Ask yourself this question. If it was a matter of life or death could you do it? The answer is almost always going to be yes. Is it likely to kill you? Unlikely. So why aren’t you doing it? Try listening to your intuition for once and see what happens, you’ll be amazed.
This is why we see stories of things like the X Factor and Stephen Hawking who against the odds succeed in a massive way and end up bringing out a part of us that knew all along that we could do it but was buried under endless thought. Sadly though these are brief awakenings for most people as they don’t consciously pursue it afterwards and they live this pattern for the rest of their lives. This reminds me of a great quote I read once which was something along the lines of “An orchestra is playing in every cemetery for people who died with the music still in them”.
Modelling
The difference between you and someone who has achieved a specific goal is that they have become a vibrational match for the person that they wish to emulate. In NLP terms, they model them. This means that their thoughts, beliefs, actions, postures and pretty much everything about their being is on the same level as that other person whereas at the moment its not quite there yet. Once you start using this system you will see the results for yourself. It’s impossible to tell someone who’s never tried it what it’s like.
If it’s someone you know then you can ask them specifically about details and slowly integrate them into your life. Once you get them all vibrating harmoniously you will start to see weird synchronicities in your life where resources just flow to you so easily. It’s like you just go about your day feeling natural in that vibrational state not even consciously thinking about it and they come to you instead of you having to search endlessly for them. It’s a great feeling to have this level of connection.
Stop making excuses and start taking steps towards your goals now no matter how small they may seem at this moment and slowly building the self discipline. You’ll look back in a year and be amazed at the ground you’ve covered.
I leave you with this quote from the Tao Te Ching.
“A tree too big to embrace is born from a slender shoot” – Lao Tzu
